Posted on 11/01/2019

The holidays will be in full swing in downtown Shawnee on Saturday, December 7th. This annual holiday event, formerly known as Christmas Around Town, is free and has something for the entire family to enjoy. The festivities get started at 2pm at City Hall (11110 Johnson Drive) with out Sister Cities Christkindlmarkt, live entertainment, kids' crafts, fruit cake races and Santa to hear your child's Christmas wishes.

Stop in at our downtown Shawnee businesses that will have even more fun activities including food trucks, sing-alongs with carolers, face painting, balloon artists, LIVE REINDEER and more!

Make your way back to City Hall at 5:30pm when Mayor Michelle Distler will be joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus to present the Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund to Shawnee Community Services and Sunflower House. If you'd like to make a donation to the Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund, click here for more information. We'll cap off the night by lighting the Mayor's Christmas Tree!

Please note that we will be shutting down a stretch of Johnson Drive between Nieman road and King Street from 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019. There will be marked detours during the closure. People will be able to park around City Hall, at the Sister Cities Park and at Splash Cove.

We can't wait to see you all to celebrate Christkindlmarkt!
