Trips and Tours

Explore with Shawnee Parks & Recreation and Shawnee Mission Trips! All trips depart from and return to the Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive. Each trip has its own individual registration and cancellation deadline. All trips must meet the minimum enrollment by the registration deadline, although many fill up prior to this date. If space remains, additional registrations may be taken until the trip is full. Cancellations will be accommodated as available. Many trips have deposits and deadlines that cannot be refunded. In the event that you need to cancel, we will make every attempt to issue any refunds that may still be available.

Summer Solstice (June 21)

Let's celebrate SUMMER at the Somerset Ridge Vineyard & Winery in Paola, KS! Activities include a wine tasting, tour, musical entertainment and a delicious lunch.

Kansas Underground (August 23-24)
Grab a shovel, we're headed underground! Get set to experience a different side of Kansas as we visit Strataca Salt Mines, the Geology Museum at Emporia State, a tour of Ellsworth County, KS and the highlight, an a underground tunnel tour in Ellinwood Kansas. This trip includes two breakfasts, two lunches, and one dinner. We will feast at Bobby D's BBQ in Emporia, KS, The Page in Great Bend, KS, The Wolf Hotel in Ellinwood, KS and enjoy a continental breakfast at our hotel. Overnight accommodations and luggage handling at the Holiday Inn Express in Great Bend, KS are included.

Manhattan Farm Tour (September 14)

Hop on board! We're heading to the farm! First we'll stop at Hildrebrand Farm, maybe you've seen their iconic glass milk bottles on the shelf at your local grocery store, or maybe you just love a cute black and white spotted cow, either way this tour is bound to be a unique, eye opening experience into the world of dairy farming. We'll break for lunch at Manhattan's Bourbon & Baker before heading for one last stop at Britt's Farm to experience the process from seed to fruit on this active local farm.

Arbor Day Farms (October 26)

Nestled in Nebraska City, Arbor Day Farm encompasses 260 acres of natural beauty and historical significance. We will experience the mansion at the Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, enjoy a  private discovery ride into the heart of the orchards and forest, and break for lunch at Timbers while we enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Arbor Day Farm. No trip to Arbor Day Farm is complete with out a pitt stop at the Apple House Market for shopping!
