Landfill Vouchers
- Residents will receive a Tidy Town voucher attached to our All Things Hometown newsletter in February 2025. People can show their voucher, along with proof of residency, for one free drop-off at the landfill.
- The voucher is good for one carload or truckload. Open U-hauls up to 5 cubic yards are also accepted.
- Landfill drop-off is for residential customers only.
- Residents will be charged for freon-containing appliances. If you have questions about what's accepted at the landfill, email waste management or call (913) 631-8181.
- The Johnson County Landfill is open Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Curbside Pickup
- Customers of Waste Management, Republic, GFL Environmental, and Earth First can schedule one free bulky item pickup.
- Constable Sanitation offers one large item curbside pickup on the first of every month.
- KC Disposal offers curbside pickup twice over the summer. Specific dates will be communicated to customers.
- Please call your individual haulers with questions. Homeowners Associations may have specific pickup times, so contact your HOA before scheduling a pickup.
- Residents are allowed FIVE ITEMS for their curbside pickup.
- Bulk service must be scheduled and completed within the calendar year.
- Accepted items include:
- Furniture
- Mattresses
- Most appliances except for refrigerators
- Push lawnmowers with no fuel or oil
- Up to 4-foot rolls of carpet (Must be securely tied and less than 50 pounds. Two rolls count as one item.)
- Prohibited items include:
- Wood fencing, decking materials
- Construction materials
- Glass panels larger than four feet
- Latex or oil-based paint
- Tires
- Automotive batteries, engine oil, or fuel tanks
- Hazardous materials or waste
- Yard waste
- Compressed gas cylinders
